When Artech House authors write their books, we ask them what they want their readers to get out of the project. In this series, we show you what our authors, in their own words, wish to impart upon readers. Henry Lau, author of Practical Antenna Design for Wireless Products, describes what his book is about:
This book starts with the antenna fundamentals to provide the basic concepts and necessary mathematics on electromagnetic analysis to the readers so they could understand and analyze different types of antenna for their radiation properties and performance. Basic antenna elements are then discussed followed by advanced antenna elements. Given all the characteristics and performance of the most commonly used antennas are provided, readers can use the knowledge to choose and design the right antenna for their particular products or systems. The concept of electromagnetic simulation is presented to the reader.
The advantages and disadvantages of different numerical methods in antenna modeling are discussed. Several commercial antenna design and simulation tools are introduced while the electromagnetic analysis and simulation tool ‘Axiem’ and ‘Analyst’ in Microwave Office offered by National Instruments will be discussed in a little more detail. A web link on a demo version of both tools will be provided so the reader can have some hands-on practices on antenna modeling and simulation. Practical implementation strategies in products and systems will be addressed so the readers can design antennas in the context of actual product environment. The book will then be concluded by presenting design techniques for IoT and Radar products
