Writing technical books on telecoms can be challenging when unexpected events intervene and change the industry that we work in and write about but there are always positive technical stories that emerge which help to demonstrate that technology can have a profoundly positive impact on our health and sanity in exceptionally testing times.
In the midst of the Corvid Crisis we can at least keep in touch with our friends and family via social media on our smart phones, we can pay for goods using contactless cards, we can work from home using bandwidth rich fibre networks and can read all those Artech books we have never quite managed to finish.
Pandemics destroy economic value but also redistribute value. The stock price of Zoom Video, the video conferencing specialist, has risen by 57% since the start of the year and now has a market value of over $40 billion dollars, more or less the same as the combined value of Nokia and Ericsson.
Strange times but don’t worry there will still be an appetite for good technical writing so don’t let the flu get you down.
